First Michelin star awarded Indian restaurant in Europe

Tamarind of Mayfair is a real top class restaurant and holds the accolade of being not only the first Michelin Star Indian restaurant in the UK and Europe, but was also the first in the World to win this title and it remained along with its sister restaurant Zaika of Kensington (now closed) one of only six on the continent to gain this prestigious and elite honour. The excellent cuisine is inspired by traditional Moghul recipes using fish, meat and game cooked in the authentic tandoor oven style of North West India.

The finest quality of food is presented in the perfect location with the restaurant ideally situated in a sumptuously elegant, gold-accented dining room in Mayfair – London’s most luxurious and glamorous district. Bordered by Hyde Park, Oxford Street, Green Park and Regent Street to the east.

Thanks to the creativity and guidance of award-winning chef Alfred Prasad, its consistent appeal has won Tamarind a host of honours, including the Best of Britain award for Restaurant Achievement of the Year, the Best Front of House award and the Restaurateurs’ Indian Restaurant of the Year.
